You Cannot Beat Nature

This would be extremely funny if it were not so depressing:

Many people like to stop and play with newborn babies, but now some adult women are playing house with fake babies.

Some women are even going as far as taking day trips with the fake babies to the park, out to eat, and even hosting birthday parties for them…

These women are paying big bucks for this hobby, from $100 to a few thousand dollars. For Reborn owner Lachelle Moore, the fake babies fill a void…

In her Kansas City home, Moore even has an elaborate room for the dolls. She organizes birthday parties, bakes a cake and even invites guests.

Psychologists say there could be a problem if and when these women stop interacting socially with others in their life.

As I observed in a lengthy essay on modern relations between the genders, single women are remaining alone for longer and longer periods of time. Some intentionally focus on their careers and educations throughout their twenties and thirties, but others have become increasingly picky as a result of their successes in a post-feminist world. (Women tend to desire to date “up,” and no female CEO will marry someone who is a plumber or in middle management.)

But, for women, remaining alone costs a psychological price, whether they do so intentionally or not. Nature tells women to find a partner and have children, so they will seek to fulfill this biological and evolutionary imperative through other means if they do not in through “traditional” means. I have seen many twentysomething women with small dogs and cats, but I suppose raising fake babies is the next step towards an evolutionary dead end. (There is one exception: Women who are unable to bear or adopt children. I do sympathize with them.)

Feminism has helped women in many obvious ways, but like every social movement, it has had many unintended and unforseen consequences.
