This is an unnerving report:
Hezbollah is using the same southern narcotics routes that Mexican drug kingpins do to smuggle drugs and people into the United States, reaping money to finance its operations and threatening U.S. national security, current and former U.S. law enforcement, defense and counterterrorism officials say.
If this story — which relies, of course, on anonymous sources — had been reported during the Bush administration, I would probably have dismissed it as yet another piece of fear-mongering propaganda. But the fact that this comes from officials in the Obama administration makes me uneasy and more likely to believe it.
