There is billions of dollars of fraud, deception, kickbacks, and misrepresentation occurring in the digital ad industry, and most marketers and advertisers are completely unaware of it.
Adtech is also killing the internet – and possibly even democracy itself. Real news sites and fake news sites are racing towards the bottom in efforts to squeeze every last possible penny out of garbage ad networks. Everything that you see above is clickbait trash that plays to the worst of humanity by focusing on conspiracy theories, health scares, celebrity gossip, and borderline pornography. How does this reflect on the brands of once-esteemed news outlets? The clickbait also leads to the intentional use of fake news that results in Brexit and the election of Donald Trump as the president of the United States.
