One of the cardinal sins in modern-day politics, so the saying goes, is to tell the truth. Not the so-called “straight talk” of John McCain, but the complete, unspun, honest – and sometimes brutal truth.
There are many important problems that will be facing the United States in the coming years, and we need to prevent and prepare for them now. The only way to do that is for America to have a frank discussion on all of these subjects. When we become a country that welcomes politicians who tell the truth, then we will deserve to have them.
