Truthiness and Politics

One of the car­di­nal sins in modern-day pol­i­tics, so the say­ing goes, is to tell the truth. Not the so-called “straight talk” of John McCain, but the com­plete, unspun, hon­est – and some­times bru­tal truth.

There are many impor­tant prob­lems that will be fac­ing the United States in the com­ing years, and we need to pre­vent and pre­pare for them now. The only way to do that is for Amer­ica to have a frank dis­cus­sion on all of these sub­jects. When we become a coun­try that wel­comes politi­cians who tell the truth, then we will deserve to have them.

Let’s start with Iraq.
