The Carbon-Neutral Movement: A Gimmick?

Busi­nesses, orga­ni­za­tions and indi­vid­u­als can now pur­chase car­bon “off­sets” in an effort to negate the amount of car­bon diox­ide they pour into the atmos­phere. For exam­ple, say an air­line pro­duces ten tons of car­bon diox­ide per year. The com­pany can pay for enough trees to be planted that will con­sume that amount of car­bon diox­ide and emit oxy­gen. But, do “off­sets” really work? The jury is out. See here.
