Some conservatives, interestingly enough, are using the controversy over immigration to rally against further attempts at increasing free trade throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico collectively. I guess they don’t want lower prices for consumers through increased competition.
If protectionism ever catches on again, the United States is doomed.
