Every twenty-eight years, reli­gious Jews recite a bless­ing for the sun. See here for news cov­er­age, a photo from Jerusalem, and an expla­na­tion for the prayer. On this day, accord­ing to Jew­ish thought, the sun returns to the place it first occu­pied when it was created.
